If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL to solve complex technical problems to integrate new capabilities into current and future precision strike weapons systems.
As an Advanced Concepts Systems Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to...
- Define System of Systems concepts and provide actionable recommendations to achieve new system capabilities.
- Conduct research, trade studies, and propose solutions to address technical challenges.
- In conjunction with government partners, identify, plan and execute Fleet and Limited Objective Experiments (FLEX and LOE) events.
- Deliver formal presentations/reports and effectively communicate proposed concepts/solutions and analysis results directly to our sponsors.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you…
- Possess a BS degree in systems engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or another related field.
- Have 5+ years of relevant professional experience in systems engineering work.
- Have experience in early concept development and performing assessments that take into account cost, schedule, and performance criteria.
- Have experience with DoD systems.
- Have strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills and ability to interact with sponsor representatives.
- Are willing and able to travel locally to Government sponsor offices, Land Based Test Sites, and contractor sites in the greater Washington D.C. area, approximately one day a week.
- Are willing and able to travel occasionally to Government and contractor sites in support of Fleet Experiment events in the continental United States (CONUS) and potentially abroad. Out of area travel based on fleet experiment and exercise schedules and locations, approximately two-three total weeks per quarter.
- Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

- Possess a MS degree in systems engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or another related field.
- Have knowledge of Planning, Programming and Budgeting, Acquisition Decision, Research and Development, and Test and Evaluation of DoD systems.
- Have previous experience in strike warfare systems, Navy fleet experimentation, and/or large scale military exercises.
- Hold a current TS/SCI.
