The Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) seeks a self-starting, motivated, detail-oriented Event Specialist to manage the logistics for a portfolio of events and internal projects. A member of the Program Operations Team, this person will work with a team of cross-functional colleagues to plan and execute programs geared toward academic audiences. In this role, you’ll lead the project management for your assigned programs, including driving timelines to meet program and project deadlines and tracking program costs, You’ll also be responsible for proactively seeking out and executing process improvements that increase efficiency and scalability. Whether the programs and projects you manage support a junior scholar with their first book publication, convene prestigious faculty to discuss impactful research or undergraduate students to discuss classical liberal ideas, or create an environment in which life-long connections will form, you will be making significant, positive impacts.

Responsibilities Include:
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
2-4 years of relevant experience in events or project management
- The ability to work effectively autonomously and as part of a team
- A customer-service mindset
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to prioritize and adapt to changing circumstances
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- A strong appreciation for classical liberal principles (individual rights, free markets, limited government, voluntarism, and peace)
- Familiarity with an academic environment, and the expectations and values of academic audiences
- Familiarity with Google Suite (primarily Docs and Sheets), Asana, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Salesforce, and Pardot is a plus
The ability to lift products and supplies, up to 40 pounds
