The Khoriaty Lab within the Department of Internal Medicine is looking for a postdoctoral research fellow interested in studying normal and disordered hematopoiesis. The postdoctoral research fellow will be part of a multidisciplinary team, using a variety of approaches to gain new biological insight into the congenital dyserythropoietic anemias and other rare hematologic disorders, as well as the regulation of erythropoietin and thrombopoietin production, hormones that regulate red blood cell and platelet production, respectively.
To address the research questions, our lab uses cutting edge technologies such as CRISPR screens, unbiased mass spectrometry approaches, flow cytometry, and mouse models, among others.
This position will provide the opportunity to perform research with translational implications. In addition, he research fellow will have the opportunity to learn from diverse colleagues and collaborators, access to cutting-edge technologies and research approaches, and gain experience in performing interdisciplinary research. Mentoring will be available on writing grants and papers, communicating as a scientist, as well career and personal development.

Potential candidates are expected to work independently under the direction of the PI in designing and conducting research experiments. Candidates will interface with lab staff, working collaboratively with the lab manager and technicians and other lab personnel as needed on different aspects of research projects. Other responsibilities include keeping up to date on current literature, participating in lab meetings with presentation of research and literature updated, keeping an up to date and detailed lab notebook, and writing protocols and papers. Candidates are expected to contribute towards projects belonging to the lab at large as well as their individual research projects. Opportunities for training and supervising students may also be available.
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in a biomedical research field such as genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, or other related fields. Candidates need to have a demonstrated record of publication, expertise in experimental science and strong communication skills. Ability and willingness to be a part of the team and contribute to the lab and lab environment is a must.
Preference will be given to individuals with relevant experience in hematology based research, mouse work, and flow cytometry.
