About the Center for Social Sector Leadership (CSSL)
CSSL was launched in November 2006 at the Haas School of Business to prepare a new generation of cross-sector leaders with the practical skills to tackle complex global challenges and advance social impact. As part of the top-ranked Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, CSSL builds upon Berkeley's signature and historic commitment to public service and social change. US News & World Report's annual rankings of business schools ranks Haas in the nonprofit specialty category #2 to #4, based on CSSL's reputation.
Central to CSSL are well-established courses, experiential programs, and groundbreaking research on cutting edge issues including multi-sector leadership, nonprofit networks, social capital and social impact assessment. CSSL continues to advance the field by developing case studies rooted in progressive and transformative leadership, DEI, and identifying and addressing social enterprise needs throughout the sector.
The Center is seeking a Program Director whose role is to administer and deliver key programs and partnerships in support of the Center's social impact mission. The Program Director role is a new role at CSSL, created to accelerate our mission to cultivate global social sector leaders, support effective social impact organizations, and build a better society.

Responsibilities
Provide operational support across CSSL Programs: Berkeley Board Fellows, Social Sector Solutions, Haas Social Impact Fund, and Packard Fellows.
Manages and executes outreach activities and campaigns, including developing and drafting content for internal and external audiences to support CSSL's activities.
Coordinates with Executive Director to steward relationships, pursue opportunities, and develop new programs.
Assesses program's effectiveness, and recommends changes to program's content, policies and procedures accordingly.
Analyze the overall impact of individual programs, using key metrics such as relevance to mission, depth, breadth, excellence and responding to stakeholder needs in collaboration with executive leadership.
Track key CSSL and relevant Haas and Berkeley impact data to share with CSSL team as part of program planning and evaluation.
Report results quarterly and provide recommendations to metric owners based on key findings to Executive Director and Faculty Director (Executive Leadership).
Serves on committees representing the program, participating in short term and long term planning.
Inform strategic planning to set goals, priorities and workflows.
Consult with leadership on programs challenges and opportunities.
Inform executive leadership about programs through written and oral reports.
Ensure consistent and accurate communication flow between the Program Director and leadership.
Coordinates activities including events and promotional materials and products designed to promote awareness of CSSL programs within the campus community or to the general public.

Required Qualifications
Academic background and experience in the social sector, business, social impact, or related field.
Articulates the value of the organization's programs with stakeholders with varying degrees of knowledge and understanding of the organization's mission and programs.
Strong program administration background including student and/or client facing program design, execution, and evaluation.
Strong skills in creativity and organizational management to build and oversee a program within a complex organization, including administrative, budgetary, and human resources responsibilities and financial management principles and practices.
Strong oral and written communication skills, and able to distill complex processes into simple terms for varying audiences of broad backgrounds.
Demonstrates independent thinking to form creative solutions on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.
Works collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.
Strong social sector background, including interest and experience in nonprofit strategy and management at the local, national and global level, philanthropy and social enterprise.
Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.

Education
Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Preferred Qualifications
Terminal degree in a related area (PhD, JD, MD, etc.).
Salary & Benefits
This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $95,450.00 - $110,800.00.
